George W. Bush shows up for jury duty in Dallas

Everyone has to serve jury duty -- even former presidents.

The day, dreaded by most, got a lot more interesting for a group of potential jurors who showed up at a Dallas courthouse Wednesday to find former President George W. Bush serving with them.

The group thought they were just waiting for one more average juror to show up at Judge Eric Moye's court. But instead, Bush walked in.

Bush spokesman Freddy Ford confirmed to CNN that the former president had been summoned for jury duty and stayed at the courthouse with the other prospective jurors.

"It would be great if everyone took their jury service the same way [Bush] did," Moye told The Dallas Morning News. "He understood it was important, he took it in good nature and he was engaged and talked to the lawyers."

He ultimately wasn't chosen to serve, which Moye said was only because the positions had already been filled and was not due to his high status. So Bush stuck around for photos instead.

"Look who I just met doing Jury Duty! #POTUS" Desiree' Bryant tweeted Wednesday along with a photo of Bush posing with her. Her tweet has since been retweeted more than 1,400 times and liked 1,900 times.

He even stopped for a photo with the courthouse intern.

"At least my interns have fun! Pres. George Bush Jr. was at the courthouse today. Jury duty is required to all," Staci Williams, a judge of the 101st district courtroom, said in a tweet.

Moye said Bush was "incredibly gracious" and stayed at the courthouse for almost three hours.
