Gitmo detainee to face military commission
(AP) — The Obama administration has selected a sixth Guantanamo Bay detainee to face a military commission.
In court filings, Justice Department lawyers say Attorney General Eric Holder has decided an Afghan detainee named Obaidullah will get military justice.
The government already decided that five other detainees will face military commissions.
Obaidullah, who like many Afghans is known by only one name, was captured in 2002. U.S. authorities have charged him with storing and concealing anti-tank mines.
Military records indicate Obaidullah is either 29 or 30 years old.
The attorney general announced late last year that five suspected Sept. 11 plotters — including the attack's self-proclaimed mastermind, Khalid Sheikh Mohammed — will face a civilian federal trial in New York City.
