House changes to the Senate bill
On Sunday, the House passed the Senate's health care bill along with a package of changes. The Senate may begin debate on those changes as early as Tuesday. The House changes to the Senate bill include: New York and other states that provide more Medicaid benefits than federal law mandates would have had cuts under the initial Senate bill. Now, New York will receive $2.1 billion in new Medicaid money.
Closes the Medicare prescription drug "doughnut hole"; Medicare enrollees who reach the doughnut hole will receive a $250 rebate this year and the gap will be eliminated by 2020.
Lowers health care premiums and cost-sharing requirements for families making up to 400 percent of the poverty line.
Increases funding to community health centers from $8.5 billion in the Senate bill to $11 billion.
Eliminates sweeteners initially promised to states like Nebraska and Florida and removed the Bank of North Dakota's exemption from the bill's student loan reform provisions.
