A Minnesota couple who ducked out of a friend's wedding received a surprise penalty fee from the newlyweds.

Jessica Baker, 33, of Andover, and her husband were getting ready to go to the Aug. 29 wedding and had arranged for her mother to watch their children, according to WBAL.

"We were excited to have a night out and we got a call from my mom saying that my brother's daughter was sick with hand-foot-and-mouth disease and my mom had been exposed and didn't want to expose my kids," Baker said, according to the report.

With no backup plan, the couple decided to stay home.

Weeks later, Baker received a letter from the couple and was shocked to find it was a bill.

Totaling $75.90, the receipt accounted for two herb crusted walleye entrees and included tax and service charges, according to KARE 11.

The bill even had a formal explanation, which reportedly read, "This cost reflects the amount paid by the bride and groom for meals that were RSVPed for, reimbursement and explanation for no show, card, call or text would be appreciated."

Baker, who said she had no plans to pay her "fine," said she didn't know "what the right thing to do would have been," according to the report.

While the newlyweds won't be collecting cold, hard cash, Baker said she might donate to a charity in the couple's name as a form of payment, reported WBAL.
