A Dyersburg man who called police and said a woman stole $40 dollars from him is headed to court as a criminal defendant.

The State Gazette reported the 62-year-old man, who is not identified, called police on July 5, saying he paid a woman for sex at a street corner and she ran away with his money. He said he wanted what he paid for or wanted his money back.

Police found the woman, who said she told the man she could buy drugs with the money. She says she gave it to someone else who ran away with it.

Officers cited both — her for prostitution and him for patronizing a prostitute. They're due in court July 20.
