Authorities in Arizona say a 2-year-old boy missing since Monday evening has been found dead.

Prescott Valley police say Emmitt Trapp, of Dewey-Humbolt, was found around 11:30 a.m. by search and rescue personnel approximately one mile from his home.

Police say the area east of Prescott where the body was found has been contained and is being treated as a crime scene.

This is standard procedure in any unattended death to ensure that a complete and thorough investigation can be conducted to determine the cause and manner of death.

No further details have been released regarding the boy’s death.
