Green Lantern, one of DC Comics' oldest and most enduring heroes, is serving as a beacon for the publisher again, this time as a proud, mighty and openly gay hero. The change is revealed in the pages of the second issue of "Earth 2" out next week. But this Green Lantern is not the emerald galactic space cop Hal Jordan who was, and is, part of the Justice League and has had a history rich in triumph and tragedy. "He doesn't come out. He's gay when we see him in issue two," which is due out Wednesday.

WASHINGTON/Military moms' breast-feeding photos stir debate The Washington Air National Guard says two nursing mothers were wrong to be photographed in uniform while breast-feeding their babies. The photos were posted on the Internet by a group at Fairchild Air Force Base that supports breast-feeding mothers. Washington Air National Guard spokesman Capt. Keith Kosik said it's a violation of regulations to use the uniform to promote a civilian cause.

KANSAS/Missing girl, 12, found safe in Michigan

A 12-year-old Kansas girl was found safe in Michigan on Friday, a day after her parents said they believed she left her home with a Canadian man she met on the Internet. The girl and a man were stopped while driving Friday afternoon southwest of Lansing, Michigan State Police Lt. T.J. Riegle said.
