WASHINGTON / Ex-Vice President Dick Cheney hospitalized

Former Vice President Dick Cheney was admitted to the hospital Friday after experiencing discomfort, the latest health scare for the 69-year-old Republican leader who has a long history of heart disease. Cheney was expected to remain at George Washington University Hospital over the weekend, said spokesman Peter Long. It was not immediately clear whether Cheney's health concern was related to his previous heart troubles.

WASHINGTON / GOP revises witness lineup in Kagan hearing

Republicans have abruptly scrapped plans for a retired Army general, Lt. Gen William G. "Jerry" Boykin, who in 2003 cast the war on terrorism in religious terms, to testify against Supreme Court nominee Elena Kagan. Three other military witnesses would still be called to talk about Kagan's decision as Harvard Law dean to bar military recruiters from the school's career services.

MASSACHUSETTS / Lawsuit filed against Cape Cod wind farm

Environmental and watchdog groups on Friday filed the first legal challenge to a wind farm off Cape Cod since federal agencies gave final approval to the project, alleging that the 130 turbines planned for Nantucket Sound will endanger protected migratory birds and whales. A federal lawsuit alleges that required scientific studies were not done and that mandated protective measures were ignored. Cape Wind spokesman Mark Rogers said the nine-year decision-making process was "comprehensive and exhaustive," and the company believes the courts "will again see through the tactics of delay and affirm the careful and proper decision-making process."
