OHIO: 5 held in slaying of woman
Five people have been arrested in the death of a woman who police said was stabbed, suffocated and dismembered in a bathtub before some of her remains were taken to Kentucky. Jessica Rae Sacco, 21, was found dead Friday in her apartment in Urbana, 40 miles northwest of Columbus. The five arrested Saturday include a 25-year-old man who lived at the same address as Sacco. He's charged with murder, abuse of a corpse and tampering with evidence and was said to be Sacco's on-again-off-again boyfriend. He was arrested in Hamilton along with a man and woman from Fenton, Mich. Felony charges against that couple and a couple from Urbana allege they failed to intervene during the killing or helped hide it.
WISCONSIN: Mayor's run thwarts unions
Unions backing the successful effort that forced Gov. Scott Walker into a recall election are suddenly facing an uncomfortable scenario: Their favored candidate may not survive the Democratic primary, now that Milwaukee's mayor is looking for a gubernatorial rematch. Mayor Tom Barrett, who narrowly lost to Walker for governor in 2010, entered the race Friday to oust the Republican, who was targeted after championing a law that curtailed public workers' collective bargaining rights. The unions support Kathleen Falk, former longtime leader of Dane County, home to the state capital, Madison. Barrett has at times clashed with unions while leading the state's largest city over education and budget issues. He refused to promise, unlike Falk, to veto a state budget if it didn't restore collective bargaining rights, prompting unions to ask him to stay out of the recall race.
NEW MEXICO: Missing runner found dead
The body of ultramarathon runner Micah True was found in a remote part of the Gila Wilderness. He had failed to return from a 12-mile run. True, 58, was found Saturday evening near a cold stream, his legs in the water. There were no obvious signs of trauma, and police said learning what happened could take a couple of days.
