President Barack Obama says the May jobs report shows that the economy is not creating jobs "as fast as we want" but vows that the economy will improve.

Obama says, "we will come back stronger. We do have better days ahead."

Obama was responding to the government's May jobs report, which showed that only 69,000 jobs were added during the month, the fewest in a year. The unemployment rate increased to 8.2 percent from 8.1 percent in April.

Obama faces a tight re-election campaign against Republican Mitt Romney. The president says the economy still faces a number of headwinds, including an economic crisis in Europe and higher gas prices which have hurt families.
