Obama sketches plan to quell kids' rebellion

WASHINGTON -- President Barack Obama has a strategy to discourage his daughters from rebelling, perhaps by getting a tattoo himself and taking it public.

On NBC's "Today" show, Obama said that he and his wife, Michelle, have told 14-year-old Malia and 11-year-old Sasha that if they ever decide to get a tattoo, "then Mommy and me will get the exact same tattoo, in the same place, and we'll go on YouTube and show it off, as a family tattoo."

The president added: "And our thinking is that might dissuade them from thinking that somehow that's a good way to rebel."

Obama also commented in the interview taped last week and broadcast Wednesday on the first lady's recent mini-gaffe referring to herself as a single mom during a television interview.

Obama suggested the comment was a slip of the tongue. But he also acknowledged there have been times in his political career when she probably did feel like a single parent. -- AP
