Police find most of pilfered Mich. pig sculpture

Police have turned up most of a plump pig sculpture that was pilfered from a Detroit suburb.

The Garden City Downtown Development Authority says the shiny, red sculpture known as "Willy" or "Willie" was recovered Friday. It was found along a bike trail by a family in Livingston County's Green Oak Township, about 35 miles northwest of Detroit.

The Whitmore Lake family took the pig home, not knowing it was stolen. They later learned it was being sought and called Garden City police.

The sculpture was found damaged, missing three hooves and a snout. Officials want to see if they can fix it.

The $6,000-plus sculpture titled "Cochon Rouge" by artist Sophie Marie was taken last month. Its base was found July 16 in a field along with other fragments.
