Poll: New Yorkers oppose Trump run in 2012

POUGHKEEPSIE -- A new poll says most New Yorkers don't like the idea of a Donald Trump presidential run.

The NY1-YNN / Marist Poll released yesterday says 75 percent of voters in New York disapprove of a Trump candidacy, while 24 percent favor the reality show star.

Among Republicans, two-thirds oppose a Trump run.

Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani leads former Gov. George Pataki, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg among other potential Republican candidates. Giuliani, whose presidential run fizzled in 2008, gets 37 percent support in the poll.

The survey of 758 voters from April 25-29 has a sampling margin of error of plus or minus 4 percentage points. There were 205 Republicans polled, with a margin of error of plus or minus 7 percentage points. -- AP
