The Powerball jackpot surpassed $300 million when no one matched all six numbers in the multistate lottery game.
Saturday's jackpot will be worth at least $320 million, up from Wednesday's $260 million. The winning numbers for Wednesday were 13, 14, 17, 43 and 54, with the Powerball 15.
Three tickets nationwide matched five numbers -- but missed the Powerball -- and are worth $1 million, the New York Lottery website said. None of the three tickets were sold in New York.
Lottery officials say more tickets are sold when jackpots rise toward $300 million, so players likely can expect longer lines at their favorite lottery retailers.
The cash value -- one lump-sum payment instead of annual payments -- for Saturday's jackpot is $198.3 million, according to Powerball.com.
Saturday's jackpot could exceed $320 million if projected sales spike in the preceding hours.
The $60 million jump from Wednesday's jackpot was because of "brisk sales" nationwide, the New York Lottery said in a news release.
Saturday's jackpot is the sixth largest in Powerball's 20-year history. The record Powerball jackpot of $587.5 million on Nov. 28, 2012, was split by winners in Missouri and Arizona.
