A Reno-area couple plan to exchange wedding vows Saturday in Virginia City while taking part in a 178-mile relay race.

The Reno Gazette-Journal reports 43-year-old Pete Parker and 40-year-old Heidi Hurst will tie the knot outside the Bucket of Blood Saloon.

The two belong to a team that's participating in the eighth annual Reno-Tahoe Odyssey, which began Friday in Reno and will take runners around Lake Tahoe and through Virginia City before ending Saturday back in Reno.

The wedding will take place around 8 a.m. Saturday after Parker runs his team's leg into Virginia City. After the 15-minute wedding ceremony, Hurst will run the team's next leg.

It'll be the second marriage for both.

About 250 teams of up to 12 runners from across the U.S. are competing.
