RNC seeks Obama campaign tie to Benghazi
WASHINGTON -- The political arm of the Republican Party is seeking any emails and documents that might exist between the State Department and President Barack Obama's re-election campaign about the deadly assault last year in Benghazi, Libya.
The Republican National Committee said yesterday it sent a request under the Freedom of Information Act for material between Sept. 11 (the day of the attack) and Nov. 7 (the day after Obama's re-election).
The RNC is seeking anything containing the words Libya or Benghazi. The attack killed four Americans, including U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens.
Republicans accuse the Obama administration of misleading Americans about the assault. It's a crucial issue for conservative voters. -- AP
