Sen. Ted Cruz’s presidential bid prompts #TedCruzCampaignSlogans

Sen. Ted Cruz  (R-Texas) announced Monday he is running as a candidate in the 2016 presidential race, resulting in a flurry of activity on Twitter around the tag #TedCruzCampaignSlogans.

The hashtag became a top trending topic on Twitter in the United States, with tweets making fun of Cruz and disagreeing with his views.

"The wisdom of Bush, the fearmongering of Cheney, the ideology of Rand Paul, and the face of the drama mask," tweeted user Crutnacker.

"I won't shut down the government, I'll just use Cruz control," Braeden Mayer tweeted.

Many supporters also tweeted #TedCruzCampaignSlogans defending Cruz.

"If you get your news from Jon Stewart, you're probably going to find my Constitution references hard to follow," Kurt Schlichter tweeted.

"He's scary smart and the Democrats worst nightmare," tweeted user WSCP1.

Some Twitter users expressed confusion between sarcasm and genuine support.

"I can't differentiate the satire from the sincere," Gerry Duggan tweeted.

The Democratic Party, which does not have a candidate in the running yet, tweeted a possible campaign slogan from their official Twitter account.

"IMAGINE: A Republican presidential candidate who doesn't support the rights of women, immigrants, or LGBT Americans."
