Virginia McLaurin, 106, dances into the Obamas' arms

A 106-year-old woman danced into the White House this weekend after a two-year campaign to meet the first black president.

“It’s an honor, it’s an honor,” said Virginia McLaurin Sunday as the centenarian hopped across the room into President Barack Obama’s arms.

“I thought I would never live to get in the White House,” she said. “And I tell you I am so happy.”

McLaurin, who was born in 1909, couldn’t contain her excitement and busted a move with the president and first lady, who said, “I wanna be like you when I grow up.”

In 2014, McLaurin recorded a video about her dream to meet the presidential couple, saying, “I didn’t think I’d ever live to see a colored president.”

Two years later, she was proudly holding hands with the Obamas.

“A black president, and a black wife,” McLaurin said, gazing at them. “And I’m here to celebrate black history.”
