It was strange enough to get one call about a stray goat in a New York suburb. When a second goat was reported 10 hours later, the mystery deepened.

White Plains police say both goats were spotted in a residential neighborhood near a busy boulevard. A motorist called in the first one and an animal control officer corralled it.

The second call came Monday night and an officer coaxed that goat into a police cruiser.

Police say both goats were checked by veterinarians and taken to the White Plains Animal Hospital. No animals or officers were harmed.

As of Tuesday, police still didn't know where the goats came from. Detective Lt. Eric Fisher said no goats had been reported missing.
