Correction: California Wildfires-Water Infrastructure story

LOUISVILLE, Colorado — In a story published Feb. 18, 2025, about steps that can be taken to make urban water systems more resilient in the face of wildfires, The Associated Press erroneously reported that San Francisco has 70 backup cisterns that can store water for use fighting fires. The city has about 200 cisterns in its emergency firefighting system.
