WVU Parkersburg spring enrollment up 15 percent
(AP) — West Virginia University at Parkersburg says its spring enrollment is up by 15 percent.
The school said Friday that 3,900 students are enrolled for the spring semester, an increase of 525 compared to last spring.
Senior vice president for academic affairs Rhonda Richards says the region's economy is a factor. About 400 displaced workers are taking classes with support from the Workforce Investment Act or Trade Act.
Richards says spring enrollment in WVU-Parkersburg's Multi-Craft Technology program jumped by 682 percent.
