You may have leaks in your attic or elsewhere. National Grid is about to launch a program to deal with that, for a $50 fee. Bob Allgor, National Grid's lead program manager of energy efficiency, said the company is about to begin an Enhanced Home Sealing Incentives program to homeowners in one- to four-family homes who use natural gas heat.
Allgor said customers will get a "comprehensive" home assessment of air sealing, which would take up to two hours. He said the cost would be about $600 if they called in a private contractor.
The home assessment is part of National Grid's overall Energy Residential program. "There's been an increased awareness of energy efficiency," Allgor said. "The programs have seen a lot more activity."
Customers can learn about all of the programs, and about when comprehensive home assessments will begin, by checking the website powerofaction.com
