Not that you’d likely come out today, but just in case: the Syosset Fire Department has postponed its annual tradition of driving Santa through the streets of Syosset and Woodbury for children to see until next week.

The event, which has run since the 1960s, has been rescheduled for next Sunday, Dec. 19, because of the nasty weather.

The decision was actually made on Friday, before the department’s volunteer firefighters started decorating the trucks.

Said Chief John Capobianco in a news release: “Santa on the Trucks is a great tradition in our community and we wanted to make sure we were undertaking this joyous day of holiday cheer under weather conditions that are both safe for our members and also allow the public to come out and meet Santa and their local volunteer firefighters.”
