Nearly 170 striking LIRR union workers earned more than $200,000

As the Long Island Rail Road strike approached its fourth day, Newsday found that nearly 170 striking workers bring in more than $200,000 per year.
An analysis of 2024 payroll data shows 168 LIRR employees who are now on strike made more than $200,000 and five made more than $300,000.
Late Monday, Gov. Kathy Hochul announced a deal that would end the strike and begin resuming LIRR service Tuesday at noon.
