Mount Sinai attorney Raymond Negron, above, will be on the Brookhaven Republican primary ballot for a town board seat next Tuesday, a State Supreme Court Appellate Division panel has ruled.

Negron, a former town attorney, will face incumbent Councilwoman Jane Bonner, who represents the second council district.

Bonner had sued to challenge Negron’s candidacy.

The Appellate Division reversed a State Supreme Court ruling that found that the signatures Negron collected “were not obtained in accordance with election law,” according to court papers.

Negron issued a statement that the ruling “put the choice back in the hands of the people.” Bonner declined to comment beyond saying that she will not challenge the Appellate Division ruling.

The second council district includes Mount Sinai, Miller Place, Rocky Point and other areas of the North Shore and central Brookhaven.
