Nesconset residents are speaking out against plans for a Sonic Drive-In to open near the Smith Haven Mall at a public meeting of the Smithtown Zoning Board.

Residents are concerned that besides the added traffic, the restaurant is more of an attraction and it doesn't belong in a residential neighborhood.

Spencer Hart, owner of the planned franchise says that the restaurant won't add more traffic and won?t interfere with the community.

The zoning board says it is still waiting for an environmental impact study prior to setting a timetable for a final decision.
