New fees for Amityville public beach

Amityville’s public beach is scheduled to open Saturday, June 25, with new fees being imposed and others increased to raise local revenue.
Beach passes are $35 per household, $10 for households with senior citizens; residents can pick the passes up at Village Hall.
New fees are also in effect for swimming and sailing classes, and final registration will be June 25-26 at the beach manager’s office. The swimming program, formerly free, is now $35 per child, with a $100 cap for households with three or more children; the program runs June 29 through Aug. 5. The fee for the sailing program, which runs July 5 through Aug. 5, will rise to $150 per child. It was $75.
A lifeguard will be on duty and the concession stand will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. The beach is closed to nonresidents.
