Brookhaven Town has awarded $4.2 million in contracts for construction of a new headquarters for the Manorville Ambulance Company.

The bids were all awarded to the “lowest responsible bidders” in late May, town officials said.

“Manorville Ambulance serves one of the largest geographic areas in New York State and has consistently done more with less,” Councilman Daniel Panico said in a statement.

The current building, which the ambulance company has outgrown, will be knocked down, town officials said. The new building will be located in the same location on South Street, officials said.

During construction, the company will be located at the Manorville Fire Department and at a rented storefront. The general construction contract was awarded to VRD Contracting Inc. of Holbrook, town officials said.

Other contracts for heating, plumbing and electrical work were awarded to JNS Heating Service of Holbrook, Ambrosio & Company, Inc. of Ronkonkoma, Roland’s Electric Inc. of Deer Park.

The $4.2 million will be paid back over 20 years by taxpayers in the Manorville ambulance district, officials said.
