Brookhaven Town Councilman Steve Fiore-Rosenfeld urged the town board Thursday to make a decision on the zoning change and covenant amendment that are necessary before a new park can be built in Port Jefferson Station.

At the board’s work session Thursday, Fiore-Rosenfeld pointed out that the decision has been pending since Dec. 22, 2009. He asked the board to consider voting on the application at Tuesday’s board meeting.

“I think it’s ready,” said Fiore-Rosenfeld, whose district encompasses Port Jefferson Station.

The proposed park would occupy 4.5 acres at the corner of Route 347 and Route 112 and provide “a year round, multi-purpose, recreational and cultural hub” for nearby communities, according to the town.
