The Village of Lake Success on Monday will turn the switch on two new solar panel electric installations.

The new panels are installed on the Village Community Center and the Department of Public Works facility.

The $500,000 installation was funded by stimulus money awarded by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority.

“We hope that the solar installations here will inspire other municipalities to embrace this and other technologies to help reduce operating costs, as well as providing the kind of renewable energy that will help our environment, and in a small way to help reduce our dependence on oil as our basic source of energy,” said Mayor Ronald S. Cooper.

The village will hold a ceremony at 11 a.m. Monday at the Village Community Center on Lakeville Road to mark the completion of the project.
