New veterans affairs office opens at New York State Veterans Nursing Home

Without fanfare, Suffolk County has opened a new veterans affairs office at the New York State Veterans Nursing Home in Stony Brook.

Thomas Roynane, Suffolk’s veterans affairs director, said the office opened late last month to accommodate nursing home residents, the Stony Brook University community and residents in the area.

“There was clearly a need to expand our services,” Roynane told county lawmakers yesterday at the veterans and seniors committee meeting. Until now, the county had offices only in Hauppauge and Riverhead. The new office will be staffed by one county veterans worker and will be open Monday through Friday.
