Bronx man indicted
in attack on driver
A Bronx man who allegedly slashed a bus driver's neck when the bus broke down earlier this month was indicted Thursday, authorities said.
Alfredo Perez, 29, allegedly accused the driver, John Browne, of staring at his girlfriend on Sept. 13, according to the Brooklyn district attorney's office.
Perez was charged in a six-count indictment, including assault and criminal weapon possession, according to the Brooklyn district attorney's office.
Browne's bus had broken down near Stone and Hegeman avenues in Brownsville.
He was standing outside waiting for a tow truck just before 11 a.m. when Perez allegedly started screaming and cursing at him. He then allegedly slashed Browne across the left side of his neck and fled.
He was arrested four days later, the Brooklyn district attorney's office said.
He is being held on $15,000 bail.

City, Va. firm settle
over untaxed smokes
New York City's Law Department on Wednesday said it reached a $5 million settlement with Virginia-based package delivery company LaserShip Inc. over deliveries of untaxed cigarettes.
The city filed suit against the company in late 2013, saying LaserShip delivered more than 120,000 cartons of untaxed cigarettes throughout the city between 2011 and June 2013. The city said those deliveries to stores, residences and offices violated federal and state law.
Under the agreement, LaserShip agreed to end all cigarette shipments and make its compliance practices stronger. The city said the $5 million settlement more than covered the actual $1.9 million loss in taxes from the untaxed cigarettes.
