Police say a jewelry store employee on Madison Avenue in Manhattan has been seriously wounded by an armed robber.

It’s not clear whether the gunman got any money or merchandise before fleeing.

The worker was taken to Lenox Hill hospital with a chest wound.

The incident occurred at about 12:25 p.m. Wednesday at J.S. Durant Jewelers on Manhattan’s tony Upper East Side between 75th and 76th streets.

Police are looking for an armed suspect in his 30s, about 5-feet-10-inches tall and weighing 150 pounds.
