17 people shot in single violent day, leaving one dead

An outbreak of violence around town left 17 people shot this weekend, including a 17-year-old boy who was killed in the East Village.
Keith Salgado died at Bellevue Hospital about 8:50 a.m. after he was shot near Avenue C and East 12th Street about seven hours earlier, according to the NYPD.
Police said they didn't have a suspect nor did they discuss what might have prompted the shooting.
The bloodshed, which included three stabbings, happened between Saturday and yesterday morning, with at least one unidentified man in critical condition at Lincoln Hospital, the New York Daily News reported.
