2 men busted in auto-shop shootout that put cop in hospital

Two men were charged last night in a Brooklyn car-repair shop gunfight that left a hero off-duty cop hospitalized, police said.

Kenneth Baxter, 21, of Bedford-Stuyvesant, and Reashawn Jackson, 18, of Crown Heights, were charged with attempted murder and robbery, among other charges, after attempting to knock off ARJ Auto Repair at 74 Albany Ave. in Bed-Stuy Saturday night, police said.

The 10-year Triborough Bridge and Tunnel Authority cop, Officer Anthony Presley, 39, was shot in the shoulder. He and several people in the shop were told to hit the ground by the robbers. The shootout began after Presley brandished his gun and identified himself as an officer. He injured both suspects after the shootout erupted mid-robbery. All three were hospitalized in stable condition, where they remained last night.

Police are unsure whether two or three suspects remain at large. Cops didn't know who shot first or whether the suspects escaped with any valuables.

Calls to a number listed for Presley went unanswered, but his mother, Loretta Presley, told the Post that he’s a hero: "I'm not really surprised, that's the type of person he is."
