3 removed from East River after boat accident
Up to three people were removed from the East River around 8 a.m. on Saturday after their boat overturned near the Manhattan Bridge, New York City police said.
Preliminary reports indicate the victims were occupants of a safety boat that may have been watching a race between two other boats, a police spokesman said.
Between two and three victims were pulled from the water and taken to ambulances waiting for them at the South Street Seaport, police said. Their condition was not immediately available.
The cause of the incident is under investigation.
