3-year-old Harlem girl dies in sofa accident: Report

Police are investigating the death of a 3-year-old Harlem girl who was trapped inside a sofa bed Sunday evening.

Aissante Diallo, of West 140th Street and Frederick Douglass Boulevard, was pronounced dead after police found her unconscious about 6 p.m.

Diallo was on the sofa bed with her 10-year-old sister while their 5-year-old sister played in the same room. Somehow, the 5-year-old caused the sofa to fold up with Diallo still on the bed, an NYPD spokeswoman said.

The medical examiner will determine the cause of death.
