6-year-old boy fatally hit by tractor-trailer on walk to Harlem school

A 6-year-old boy was hit and killed by a tractor-trailer while walking to his East Harlem school Thursday, according to the NYPD.

Amar Diarrosova, who reportedly attended PS 155, was crossing First Avenue at East 117th Street with his brother around 8 a.m. when the tractor-trailer made a right turn onto First and struck him in the crosswalk, police said. The accident happened about a block away from the school.

First responders rushed Amar to Harlem Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His brother was unharmed.

The intersection is usually monitored by a crossing guard, but published reports said the guard may have been on break during when accident happened.

Police said there was no criminality suspected.
