Riders of the No. 7 train are in for some weekend travel troubles, as service between Times Square and Queensboro Plaza will be suspended over three weekends this month and two in November for construction.
The service will shut down at 11:45 p.m. Friday night through 5 a.m. Monday morning this coming weekend, Oct. 19-22, Oct. 26-29, Nov. 9-12 and Nov. 16-19, the MTA said yesterday.
The authority estimates that some 280,000 straphangers will be affected each weekend, and recommended taking the E, F, N or Q trains.
Free shuttle buses will be provided between Vernon Blvd.-Jackson Avnue and Queensboro Plaza. The Q will also be extended to Astoria-Ditmars Blvd. during the day, and the S shuttle will operate overnight.
The MTA said the cutoff is necessary so that work can be done on infrastructure maintenance in the Steinway Tunnel, including installation of communications equipment.
