Authorities say an 8-year-old child has died after a vehicle jumped a curb and struck pedestrians outside a Bronx school.

The accident occurred around 2:45 p.m. Friday outside Public School 307 in the Kingsbridge neighborhood.

WABC says five other people, ranging in age from 9 to 66, were listed in stable condition at hospitals.

Police say a 55-year-old woman was backing up when she lost control of her vehicle.

Schools Chancellor Carmen Farina says her "heart breaks" for the child's family and the entire school community.
