Actor Michael McKean was injured in a multiple car crash Tuesday afternoon while walking in the Upper West Side, sources said.

McKean, who is currently starring in "Gore Vidal's The Best Man" on Broadway and is best known for comic roles on "Laverne & Shirley" and in "Spinal Tap," was on 86th Street when he was struck just before 3 p.m., officials said.

EMS workers rushed McKean to St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital, according to an FDNY spokesman. Three other passengers in “at least two other cars” involved in the accident were also taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

NBC News first reported McKean's involvement in the accident.

McKean’s manager, Harriet Sternberg, said the 64-year-old actor had a broken leg, and may have other injuries.

“I know that he has a broken leg and hopefully that's the extent of it,” Sternberg told amNewYork Tuesday night.

Sternberg said that she had spoken with McKean, saying, “He's fine,” though she was uncertain how long he would be hospitalized.

“Tonight will be the first night in his entire career that he will be missing a performance,” Sternberg said.

An NYPD spokesman said no criminality was suspected in the accident.
