It seems the execs at Fox's "American Idol" are really trying to shake things up.

A report surfaced Monday stating that popular "Idol" castoff Adam Lambert is in the running to take a spot at the judges' table, which longtime judge Randy Jackson and relative newbies Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler occupied last season. None of the judges has confirmed plans for next season, with Lopez seeming to be the least likely to return.

"They have been talking about Adam for over a month," a source told E! News. "He personifies the show, and will be a popular choice right from the start."

Lambert lost out to Kris Allen on "American Idol" in 2009.
