Alec Baldwin and his yoga teacher girlfriend to wed

Actor Alec Baldwin, who turns 54 on Tuesday, and his inamorata Hilaria Thomas, 28, got engaged over the weekend on Long Island.

"Yes, it's true! Alec proposed to Hilaria this weekend and we're all excited for the newly engaged couple. Alec's birthday is tomorrow-great way to celebrate!" his representative, Matthew Hiltzik tweeted yesterday.

Baldwin began rhapsodizing about his new love several months after meeting her at a high end vegetarian restaurant early last year. According to tabloid reports, Thomas has had a salubrious effect on the prickly movie star, inspiring him to lose his gut and improve his diet. Thomas, who is originally from Spain, is a graduate of NYU, where she majored in art history and dance. A bio on the website for Yoga Vida, an NYC yoga studio she co-owns, says she has an interest in “trauma psychotherapy.”

Congrats to the couple were offered by the daughter Baldwin had with Kim Basinger, from whom he has been divorced since 2002, and who Baldwin once called a “rude, thoughtless little pig” in a voice mail that leaked to the press in 2007.

Details about the nuptials were not released.
