Alleged cop killer says he 'panicked'

The man accused of murdering an NYPD officer during a drug robbery in Brooklyn said he was "so nervous and I panicked" when describing how the night unfolded in a videotaped interview released Thursday.
The video, taken by investigators and obtained by NBC New York, is the first time alleged cop killer Lamont Pride can be heard speaking since the December shooting of Officer Peter Figoski.
Figoski, 47, was shot in the face after responding to a burglary at a Cyprus Hills apartment. Police said Pride, 27, and four others were allegedly trying to rob a marijuana dealer inside when Figoski bumped into Pride.
Pride, who is charged with first-degree murder, has pleaded not guilty, but on the video is shown trying to cut a deal. His attorney didn't return a request for comment Thursday.
In the video, he also gives changing stories about why he was at the scene that night, but said the shooting was accidental.
"I never took my hand off the trigger. That was my mistake," Pride said.
