In the wake of Superstorm Sandy, Amtrak's northeast corridor saw its second best year ever in fiscal 2013 with 11.4 million passengers, Amtrak said Monday.

Despite a slight .2% dip in ridership from the previous year, ticket revenue on the Boston-Washington northeast corridor increased 5.3% to $1.1 billion. That also includes riders and revenue from the Acela Express and special trains.

Amtrak's total ridership for fiscal 2013 set a record of 31.6 million passengers, pulling in $2.1 billion from ticket sales.
