NYC man gets 25 years to life for suffocating quadriplegic girlfriend, leaving son with body
A Brooklyn man has been sentenced to up to 25 years to life in prison for suffocating his quadriplegic girlfriend and leaving their 2-year-old son for hours with her body.
Angelo Sanchez pleaded guilty to killing Melissa Torres in August 2013 and leaving her body in the bathtub.
He was sentenced in state Supreme Court on Thursday.
The New York Post says Torres' mother read a victim-impact statement in court.
Norma Santiago said her grandson still cries out for his mother. She is in the process of adopting Elijaah Sanchez.
