Anne Hathaway and James Franco to host Oscars

Well, this is a step forward for young Hollywood. Or completlely odd, whichever.
It was announced yesterday that James Franco, 32, and Anne Hathaway, 28, will co-host the 83rd annual Academy Awards on Feb. 27.
An interesting move, considering past hosts have included mainstream, middle-aged talent such as Billy Crystal, Steve Martin and David Letterman.
“[Anne and James] personify the next generation of Hollywood icons. We hope to create an Oscar broadcast that will both showcase their incredible talents and entertain the world,” said show producers in a news release.
While they’re both head-scratchers, at least Franco’s been scoring Oscar buzz for his role in “127 Hours.” Hathaway, conversely, was borderline abysmal in this year’s critically maligned “Love and Other Drugs.”
