The eighth annual walk in honor of the Fire Department of New York chaplain and others who died in the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks will be held on Sunday.

The Father Mychal F. Judge Walk of Remembrance begins after a 9 a.m. memorial Mass at St. Francis of Assisi Church at 135 W. 31st St., in Chelsea, and wends its way south with stops at firehouses and police stations along the way to Ground Zero. The church is where Judge ministered to the homeless.

The body of Judge, a Franciscan priest, was found in the lobby of the 1 World Trade Center where he had offered aid to the injured following the attacks.

The walk was conceived in 2002 after friends NYPD Det. Steven McDonald of Malverne - who was paralyzed as a young cop - and John Bates, a New York Harbor pilot from Massapequa - stopped by St. Francis to pay their respects and then walked to Ground Zero with about 30 people. The walk has grown to more than 600 people.
