Anthony Weiner is tweeting again.

The possible mayoral candidate registered a new Twitter handle Monday - @AnthonyWeiner - his first active account since his old one went dormant following his lewd-tweeting scandal in 2011 .

The new account has been pretty quiet, but Monday Weiner tweeted out two links to a 20-page document he released last week called "Keys to the City: 64 Ideas to Keep New York the Capital of the Middle Class."

"It seemed like a fresh start was in order especially in light of all the new ideas around which I am hoping to drive conversation and debate," Weiner, 48, wrote in emails to several news outlets about the new account. He didn't respond to emails from amNewYork.

The account quickly jumped to nearly 5,000 followers by early evening last night.

Weiner is flirting with a mayoral run this year, telling The New York Times earlier this month that he is weighing a decision and has spent money on polling to gauge whether the public would accept him back.

Reaction to a possible run has been mixed among registered voters, according to an NBC News/Marist poll last week, with more than half saying they wouldn't consider voting for him..
