Arrest in break-in at Letterman's theater
A drunken Harlem man smashed his way into the Ed Sullivan Theater in midtown Manhattan early Sunday and wrecked its lobby, police said.
Cops said they found James Whittemore, 22, in the theater about 7 a.m. after receiving a call about a possible burglary at the home of CBS' "Late Show with David Letterman." Whittemore wrecked the lobby and box office, police said. He was charged with burglary and criminal mischief.
Tom Keaney, a spokesman for Letterman's production company, said the intruder did not enter the studio or the set. He said Monday's show will be taped as planned with guests "Harry Potter" star Emma Watson, comedian George Lopez, rock band Incubus and a "Top Ten" list by "Captain America" star Chris Evans.
